The fields at Green End Farm

A working farm first, a shop second

We've been growing rhubarb on this land since the 1930s, back when there were two hundred growers within a couple of miles of here. There are a handful of us left, and we still force the crop by candlelight in the old sheds every winter.

The shop grew out of that — a place to sell what we grow, what our neighbours grow, and what our butcher and baker make each morning. Everything on the shelves has a face behind it.

Seasonal

This week in the field

Forced rhubarb is back on the shelves — cut in the dark, sweeter and pinker than the summer crop. Ask at the counter for our rhubarb crumble kits, made fresh each morning.

Different areas of the shop for different foods, and the steaks look amazing. We'll be back before the year's out.
Richard E.
Not the biggest farm shop around, but the butchery selection is genuinely excellent. Full of history too.
Gloria S.
Lovely to wander round with the geese, sheep and llamas outside. Picnic tables make it an easy stop.

Good to know

Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?+

No booking needed — just turn up. Saturdays and school holidays are busiest, so weekday mornings are quietest if you'd like a slower browse.

Is there anywhere to eat on site?+

Yes — the Coffee Barn serves hot drinks, cake and light lunches, with seating inside and picnic tables out by the animal field.

Can I bring the dog?+

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the outdoor areas and car park. We ask that they stay outside the food counters.

Do you deliver, or is it in-person only?+

Everything is sold in person at the farm for now — it's how we keep the produce and prices honest. Ask at the butchery about larger orders for freezers.

Is the farm accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs?+

Yes, the shop and yard are flat and step-free throughout, with accessible parking near the entrance.
